Rojas urges budget cuts on Capitol aid to prosecutors, fears influence of thugs
Legislative deliberations on the 2009 proposed Executive Budget of the Iloilo Provincial Government posed yet more reservations and questions from members of the Provincial Board.
From the end of Fifth District Board Member Jett Rojas, unresolved was his "impression" that Trial Courts are undeserving and unworthy of Capitol aid.
In fact, Board Member Rojas was clear of his sentiments – he is not convinced Trial Courts deserve support based on first-hand and personal experience.
Worse, Rojas told colleagues as reflected by the latest minutes of the session, …some of the provincial prosecutors are perhaps under the influence of some criminal organizations in the Province of Iloilo ."
To note, included in the Capitol's budget are funding for provincial prosecutor's office here pegged at over P1.6 million in the current year to over P1.8 million as proposed for 2009.
The Committee on Appropriations is chaired by Vice Governor Rolex Suplico. The findings as contained in Committee Report No. 224, Series of 2008 was presented on Second Reading in yesterday's special session.
A total of P1,180,153,862 comprised the 2009 Executive Budget with the General Annual Investment Program (AIP).
